From Wilmington to Site in Hampstead, North Carolina
- Directions to Hampstead
- From Wilmington, travel north on US 17 (aka. Market St) for about 15 miles
- From SE-bound I-40, take exit 408 east on SR 210 to US 17 in Hampstead
- From Jacksonville, NC, travel south on US 17 for about 30 miles
- A Food Lion supermarket sits at the intersection of US 17 and SR 210
- Directions from Hampstead to Site (see Map)
- In general, follow the HALO signs to balloon launch site
- Travel north on US 17 past the next major intersection (Country Club Drive)
- Continue north on US 17 past Topsail High School on the left
- The site is on US 17 on the right less than a mile north of the High School
(Note: This is the opposite side of the road from what was previously reported.)
- A cemetary is on the right, just before the site
- The site is a grass field 300 feet across and 1 mile in depth
- The entrance to the site is a short gravel driveway between a line of trees
- Parking at the HALO Balloon Launch Site
- The field will be divided into areas using "fences" of warning tape
- HALO Team members should part on the right side of the field
- Visitors and members of press should part on the left side of the field
- For your safety, please obey the instructions of HALO Security personnel
